Sometimes the rain comes down in June

I don’t think anyone in Blighty could have missed the fact that we are having a rediculous amount of rain at the moment. This has meant that I have been able to paddle the Afon Ystwyth in June, which must be a first!

The Ystwyth has a special place in my heart as not only do I live very near it, it is where I learnt to paddle on white water. It is a fantastic river that really does has something for everyone, from some exellent upland stream paddling to some fantastic gorges to pleasant touring in a lovely valley. Myself and a few friends got on for an evening session the section known as the upper Ystwyth. This is stream paddling par exellence in a remote, bleak yet beautiful valley.

The water lasted for about a day and the next day I headed up to the Tryweryn for some fun and frolics with the amazing Dave. Quite a pleasant few days.
